Self-Portraits

So I have a self-portrait assignment in my portraiture class. She recomended that we take a picture of ourselves every day. I haven't BUT I have been taking picture from time-to-time instead of waiting until last minute to take all six that are due!

I will add, doing self-portraits are a lot of work! If I look tired and sweaty in any of them, it's because I am! Having to model and photograph at the same time calls for a lot of ups and downs and running to get in position to beat the timer.... Maybe it would have been easier to paint...

Here are some that I have finished so far, I'll keep on posting more as I get them.

ESPRESSO!!!

I was doing a shoot, sipping on my espresso, and I decided to take a couple pictures of what I was drinking and now I'm sharing =). Enjoy.

"That's so ____."

So I'm thinking of starting a new series called "That's so ____." The idea around it will be acknowledging that it is inappropriate to say "That's so retarded" or "That's gay" or "What a blonde." Why is it inappropriate? For one it's really offensive to refer to a bad or negative situation as "retarded." Mentally challenged people have no choice in their situation and to insinuate that they are bad for being that way is really wrong. Remember when you say this that you are offending actual mentally challenged people and their families.

Same with being gay, when people say "That's gay," they really mean "That's annoying" or "That's stupid" and are therefore stereotyping all gay people as annoying and/or stupid which is not at all the truth.

In addition, it's true that not all blondes and not all polish people are dumb, not all jews are obsessed with money, etc. I support a campaign that will help get rid of these nasty, horrible, and very negative stereotypes from the mouths of everyone.

Hey, so I'm back with my first post of the new quarter! I'm back with food! I made a magazine spread featuring apples and some recipes. I just finished it today, I'm pretty happy! Let me know what you think.
